INFLOR honored athletes with a billboard advertised in Vitória and Santa Cruz (Aracruz-ES), which is where they live
Two youths qualified for the competition take part at a social project in the needy community of Santa Cruz, in Aracruz, and are sponsored by INFLOR
The youngsters Brenda Santos (16) and Matheus Ribeiro (16) are preparing themselves for the greatest journey of their lives. Residents of the Santa Cruz community in Aracruz-ES, where they take part in a social project in which they practice running, swimming and cycling, the duo embarks on July 3 for Denmark. Besides them, only two other capixaba* athletes take part at the World Duathlon Championships which takes place in that country, but Brenda and Matheus are the only ones in the age category (16−19 years). The athletes’ travel expenses will be borne by Inflor, the market leader in forest management systems in Latin America.
INFLOR sponsors three athletes who take part in the social project in Santa Cruz, and two of them qualified for the competition in Denmark. Karolayne and Matheus will compete with youths from all over the world. Besides them, Gustavo Cabidelli will also be sponsored by INFLOR. “These young athletes show a lot of commitment, competence and focus on results, which are values that we share. For us, it is very rewarding to give these youths the opportunity of a better future,” emphasizes Guilherme Brunoro, INFLOR’s Marketing and Ecosystem Manager.
The coach responsible for the duo’s training, Jorge Augusto Curto de Oliveira, shows confidence in the athletes’ performance. Since the qualification obtained in the the Brazilian Championships during the qualifying stage held in Barueri-SP, Brenda and Matheus train heavy three times a week, including altitude training in the capixaba* mountains range, in Domingos Martins. According to the coach, Matheus has boosted his performance and the outlook for his athletes during the competition is great.
“We intend to be among the top five. By scaling their results in the Brazilian Championships, they would be among the best in the world. We are aware that it will be tough, because there are many triathletes in Europe, so the competition will be fierce. But we are confident nonetheless,” says the coach.
The capixaba* athletes were very proud to get the qualification for the World Championships and trust in their good preparation for the competition. “It’s the first time that I have the opportunity to be abroad and, on top of that, doing what I love. It’s been a wonderful experience. My goal is to get there, give my best and try to bring a medal to Brazil. It will be difficult because they are very good, but I am very confident,” says Matheus Ribeiro.
Matheus still mentioned the importance of sports projects for young people and how important the sponsorship is, so that the athletes can do what they enjoy doing. “That takes the youths off the street, many of them get discouraged and the sport practice helps a lot, giving opportunity and showing other options for a better life,” he said.
Karolayne, who has visited some cities in Brazil competing in Triathlon and Duathlon competitions, prepares for her longest journey. Taking part at the World Championships in Denmark is the huge accomplishment for the athlete, which highlights the importance of sponsorship. “Support is what makes one grow within the sport. We could not do it alone, we needed leverage and the sponsorship can help us greatly on this journey,” she said. She secured her participation in the event after beating more experienced athletes in the Brazilian Championships.
