The GIS RE Project was conducted in partnership with INFLOR and Deloitte, which developed the Real Estate module for the Votorantim SAP, whereas INFLOR made use of the GIS (Geographical Information System) to convert the ownership data into images.

Installed in November 2011, the GIS RE is a system that is capable of supplying essential information (area calculation, identification of legal reserves and validation of limits of mineral rights) through spatial analyses in order to assist in the management of the group's properties.

All of the documentary, legal and tax information is accessible through the system, making it possible for the company to have better control over its operations involving its properties, for example, for the purpose of purchase, sale and renewal of contracts or licenses with public agencies. Also available is data regarding construction on the properties, details of own road systems and preservation areas, among others.

The GIS RE offers technical support, for example, to identify on a given piece of land what is the best area to be set aside for environmental preservation; or it could show which is the best spot for building. It also is possible to diagnose land that offers the possibility of underground exploitation and displays properties where there are restrictions, such as Permanent Preservation Areas. (APPs).
